Stanwood Students Use Grant to Utilize Solar

Sanwood high schol students received a $14,500 grant to install solar panels to power the school's greenhouse. Cory Calkins and Scott Weisse of Stanwood High School wrote a grant asking for money to purchase a photovoltaic solar system to power the school's greenhouse. After receiving confirmation of the grant, the school began developing plans to utilize the money.

The solar system is funding by the country's continuing support for renewable electricity generation. This system will teach Washington students how one form of renewable energy, photovoltaic, works and how to apply it to everyday life. By giving the students exposure to renewables at a young age, hopefully it will teach students to implement solar into their own lives.
