Large Solar System Complete in Somerset County, NJ

Fellowship Village Retirement Community has completed the largest angled photovoltaic solar system in New Jersey. The panels are expected to produce enough electricity to reduce emissions by 450 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2).

The EDA (Economic Development Authority) aided Absolutely Energized Solar with the photovoltaic installation.

This is one of the many photovoltaic installations in New Jersey. The states has achieved a 10 fold increase in installations since 2006. The state hopes to provide encouragement to other states to go solar.

This particular photovoltaic solar installation is 3,000 solar panels large and will provide 668 kW of electricity. This will cover 14% of the Retirement Center's electricity demand.

New Jersey has set the goal of reducing electricity consumption by 20 percent while generating 30 percent of its electricity from renewable sources by the end of the next decade. The state currently offers financing and incentives to meet this goal.
