Solar is popularly known as an environmently friendly way to produce electricity, but it is also helping homeowners to save money. By paying for a electricity plant on your roof, each homeowner is securing their energy price for the next 35+ years. (Solar panels begin to lose efficiency at 35 years, but will continue to produce electricity for centuries).
One of the reason for the decreasing costs of solar is a huge push by local and federal governments. A recent report from the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy ranked all 50 states and their implementation of renewable energy.
The top three states are California, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, with Oregon and New York as clost contenders. The report is based on criteria from building codes, states initiatives, and transportation.
Solar, in addition to being a cost-effective means to elimiate dependent on foreign energy, can help the environment and offer a great investment.
